Family and Community Engagement

Public Health Detailing

What is Public Heath Detailing?

In simplest terms, public health detailing is the practice of utilizing brief, one-on-one visits to provide educational outreach to providers. The CYSHCN Program workplan includes a list of community partners and providers along with a schedule for frequency of visits. The purpose of these visits is to support several complementary goals:

  • Create awareness of the CYSHCN Program as a helpful resource
  • Build positive, professional relationships with partners and providers
  • Learn about the programs and services available to children and youth with special healthcare needs and their caregivers
  • Improve the system of care for children, youth, and their families

To support your practice, ACT for Youth is developing an online Public Health Detailing course that will include self-paced, interactive modules. The course will feature tools to help you plan, prioritize, and enhance your detailing practice.
